Fauna is more than just a bar, it’s a space where different disciplines, styles, and forms of visual expression come together. From the beginning, the client made it clear that the logo had to remain unchanged, but they wanted to introduce elements that could expand the identity and support various graphic pieces, merchandising items, and the bar’s everyday communication. The proposal had to be flexible, recognizable, and aligned with the venue’s artistic spirit.
Based on the premise Fauna is an art bar, I defined a concept centered around diversity: it doesn’t matter what species you are, at Fauna, there’s room for all forms of expression. This spirit was translated into a visual language that is joyful, inclusive, and a bit wild, featuring a main cartoon-style character that conveys freedom, creativity, and belonging. The isotype reflects the instinctive side of Fauna, while the imagotype brings that spirit together with the name and energy of the bar.
At the same time, I didn’t want to lose sight of the bar’s core essence. That’s why I worked rhetorically on the isotype to reconcile both worlds: fauna and bar, resulting in an identity that celebrates art without losing the social and festive nature of the space.
The Graphic System was built around two key pillars: expressiveness and integration. The color palette is made up of pastel tones that evoke artistic materials like tempera or crayons. The visual identity uses a decorative typeface (CC Monster Mash, from the original logo), paired with Montag to provide balance. Original illustrations reinforce the concept of art and celebration. Each piece was designed to coexist harmoniously with real artworks, without overpowering them.
The identity was applied across a wide range of touchpoints, from the most functional to the most playful: brandbook, menu, stickers, tote bags, posters, packaging, t-shirts, coasters, and bar cards. Every application was an opportunity to extend the visual language and reinforce Fauna’s personality, creating a brand experience that is cohesive, memorable, and open to experimentation.
